This is a video taken from a car, of a bicycle ride along Aneyakoji-dori, an east-west street in Kyoto, from its western end (the intersection with Sai-dori (Kasuga-dori)) to its eastern end (the intersection with Kiyamachi-dori).

In this video, we will take you through the streets of Kyoto,
which are said to be shaped like a checkerboard.
I ride my bike (and walk where I can't) at a leisurely pace.
I hope to be able to show you around the city along the way.

姉小路通（あねやこうじどおり）
京都市中京区にある東西の通り。平安京の姉小路にあたる。
通り名の由来は分かっていない。
現在は御池通という幹線道路と
三条通という有名な通りの間にある少し地味な通りとなる。
しかし、江戸時代には大いに発展し、たくさんの商店が立ち並び、
今もそれらの店がそのまま老舗として残っているものもある。
まさに京都らしさが残る道と言える。

Aneyakoji Street
An east-west street in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City.
It corresponds to Aneyakoji in Heian-kyo.
The origin of the street name is unknown.
Currently, it is a somewhat unassuming street between the main road, Oike-dori, and the famous street, Sanjo-dori.
However, during the Edo period, it developed greatly and many shops lined the street,
some of which remain as long-established establishments even today.
It is a street that truly retains the essence of Kyoto.
