Yuki Tamura, the fifth generation to inherit this traditional technique, will show you the world of “wired Shippo.

Tamura Shippo-yaki Kogei was founded in 1883, based in “Shippo-cho”, Aichi Prefecture, the original home of Shippo-yaki.
The company is engaged in traditional crafts classified as “Owari Shippo-yaki,” known as the originator of Shippo-yaki in Japan.
In Owari Shippo, patterns are drawn with fine silver wire and glaze is layered by firing in a kiln at 800 degrees Celsius over and over again, producing clear and deep colors.
While preserving traditional techniques, Mr. Tamura introduces modern sensibilities and challenges new expressions on a daily basis.

As the fifth generation, Mr. Tamura began his career as a Shippo-yaki craftsman in earnest in 2015.
After studying at Nagoya University of Arts, he aims to create works that emphasize not only traditional craft techniques but also design.
Currently, he is responsible for the future of the studio, and is energetically working to pass on traditional techniques while at the same time seeking new ways of expression and participating in exhibitions in Japan and abroad.
