Profile of Go Shimoyanagi
Born in Nagasaki Prefecture. Joined Daiei as the 4th draft pick in 1990.
In 1996, he transferred to Nippon-Ham. He played as a starter and relay pitcher, pitching in more than 60 games four times, demonstrating his iron fist.
When he renewed his contract in 2000, he became the first Japanese player to negotiate with an agent.
In 2003, he transferred to Hanshin, and as a central pitcher in their golden age, he won double-digit games five times in nine years.
In 2005, he became the oldest player in history to win the most wins. He was committed to building his body from an early age, and was also a pioneer in incorporating cutting-edge training such as mixed martial arts and mental training.
He retired from active play in 2013, and while he is active as a commentator, he also appears on many programs that utilize his hobbies such as fishing and the outdoors.
