Making a trolling hook

Trolling hooks were used by native people along the west coast of Canada to catch salmon and other fishes.
This is not a hook made for angling but a hook designed for trolling. They were baited with a shiner or the like.

I made the shank from spruce and lashed on a bone point and a leader with a spruce root. The leader was made from retted lime (Tilia cordata) inner bark.
I split the spruce root in four parts and fattened out one of them with my knife.
The way the lashing is done is a very genius way to fasten the point.
Hope you enjoy!
