The CBS series "Private Benjamin" had its original network run from 1981-1983 but it was in the Summer of 1985 that my teenage crush on the lead actress, Lorna Patterson, had me regularly tuning into the syndicated reruns on Channel 29 in Philadelphia. Most of the episodes that I recorded are incomplete, so I apologize if any viewers feel cheated or confused but basically the plot for just about every show saw Private Benjamin getting into some kind of trouble early that she would ultimately overcome by the closing credits. The enjoyable cast also included Eileen Brennan and Hal Williams and they all provided me with a memorable summer of post dinner laughter.
