What happens when both SET and RESET of the 555’s Flip-Flop are triggered?
Many of you asked this question on my previous 555 video and my initial thought was it would be an erratic condition. But, one viewer kindly pointed out that the data sheet gives you the answer.
If you have not seen my previous video, I suggest you take a look at that first by clicking the following link:-
🔗 • How a 555 Works as a Timer.
In this video I describe what people were asking and why. I then show the answer already given in the datasheets which I then put to the test. But I don’t just test with one 555 chip , I test with multiple variants to see if the all exhibit the same behaviour:-
TI NE555
TI SA555P
TI TLC555P
TI SE555P
ICM7556 Dual 555 IC
TI TL556CN Dual 555IC
You may find the dual 555 ICs particularly interesting. Both are CMOS, High Bandwidth and have multiple advantages over the traditional 555. I will probably do a dedicated video on these in the near future.
