Praying mantises are insects popular for their unique looks. They go through their entire lives in just under a year. In spring, pre-larvae emerge all at once from their egg sacs. Even as larvae, they look very similar to adults, and as they grow by repeatedly molting, they are incomplete metamorphosis insects. The larvae are excellent hunters from a young age. In summer, they finally undergo a fantastic metamorphosis and transform into adults... For males, mating is a life-risking experience. Then in autumn, the parent mantises die after laying eggs, and the egg sacs help them survive the winter... This is a record of the short but passionate life of a praying mantis, observed throughout the four seasons!
