Activity 1: Ziplock Bag with Water & Skewer
Steps:

Fill a Ziplock bag halfway with water.
Hold the bag tightly and carefully pierce a sharp skewer through it.
Observe how the water doesn’t spill due to the plastic’s ability to seal around the skewer. Science Behind It: The plastic bag forms a seal around the skewer, preventing water from leaking out due to the polymer chains in the plastic.

Activity 2: Blooming Matchstick Star
Steps:

Arrange 5 matchsticks into a star shape with the ends touching.
Place a small drop of water in the center of the matchstick star.
Watch as the star slowly
“blooms” and expands outward. Science Behind It: This happens due to capillary action, where the water moves up the matchstick, causing it to expand.

Activity 3: Rising Water Experiment
Steps:

Place a small candle on a plate and pour some water around it.
Light the candle.
Cover the candle with a glass, watch the flame go out, and the water rise inside the glass. Science Behind It: The burning candle uses up oxygen, creating a lower pressure inside the glass, which causes the water to rise as outside air pressure pushes it up.
